Diese Swing-Variante ist ein Hybrid aus Afro-Cubanischem Tumbao und Swing. Auf Congas gespielt nennt man die Hauptschläge des Tumbao „Slap“ und „Open Tone“. Auf dem Drum-Set imitiert die linke Hand erst den Slap als Cross Stick (Zählzeit 2) und die Open Tones auf dem Tom (Zählzeit 4).
This swing variation is a hybrid of Afro-Cuban Tumbao and Swing. Played on congas, the main beats of the Tumbao are called „Slap“ and „Open Tone“. On the drum set, the left hand imitates the Slap as a Cross Stick (on count 2) and the Open Tones on the Tom (on count 4).

Die Bass Drum sollte mehr zu fühlen, als zu hören sein! Deshalb: Ride, getretene HiHat, Cross Stick und Tom normal laut spielen, die Bass Drum lediglich antippen – das Zauberwort heißt „dynamische Unabhängigkeit“.
